"My first GP training placement was at Centrehealth Family Clinic under the guidance and supervision of Dr Nick Roubos. It was an incredible experience. Transitioning from regional North Queensland to the vibrant city of Melbourne in Victoria, I was not only starting a new job but also embarking on my first term as a GP registrar, living in a big city far from family, friends and familiarity. The shift from tertiary care in hospitals to the world of primary care was both exciting and enlightening and made even better by the team at Centrehealth Family Clinic. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed by the small, family-oriented practice. Dr. Roubos, his family and the staff at work embraced me as one of their own, creating a supportive environment that made the transition seamless. With Dr Roubo’s guidance, I honed my skills in critical reasoning, problem-solving, and consultation communication, all while focusing on preventive and population health. The practice catered to a diverse community with a strong focus on young families, older adults and strong European ethnicity and culture, striking a perfect balance between busy and manageable. This term was not only a fantastic start to my training but would also be an enriching experience for any level of training. I truly felt at home, and I am grateful for the warmth and support I received throughout this invaluable journey."

The clinic feels like how you would expect a classic family clinic to feel – friendly, homely and focused on quality patient care. A truly “general” practice, where you can see a bit of everything, so a great place to cover any gaps in your exposure of different types of patients. Cathy and the team are amazingly supportive and great to work with. Dr Nick is an amazing supervisor, especially for GPT1 when you’re finding your way. He is an excellent and patient teacher, and his door is always open when you need help – literally - I would only have to knock and he would assist, even if he had a patient with him. A really worthwhile rotation to consider.”

"As my first GP rotation, Centrehealth family clinic was a lovely clinic to experience. It was a family oriented clinic which saw a range of patients from young children to the elderly who had been attending for years. There's a good variety of experiences from day to day GP clinic care to home and nursing home visits. The staff were absolutely wonderful. Everyone from Dr Nick to our receptionists to our practice manager were lovely and supportive and made the experience of starting as a GP registrar much less daunting. Dr Nick is a very kind and caring supervisor. He is a patient teacher and offers a wealth of experience and wisdom at any time it is needed."
